Practical guide for completing census form 036

Closing date of the next financial year

As a general rule, the bylaws that govern the operation of the company will state, among other things, the closing date of the financial year. In the absence of a statutory provision, it shall be understood that the fiscal year ends on December 31 of each year.

In corporate tax, the tax period will coincide with the financial year of the entity.

The census declaration will include the closing date of the financial year ( box 640 ) that has been stated in the company bylaws.

It is necessary to know the closing date of the next financial year in order to determine the date for filing the tax return, which must be filed within 25 calendar days following the six months after the end of the tax period.
