A joint operation by the Tax Agency and the Guardia Civil

August 16, 2022.- The Risk Analysis Unit (UAR) of the Algeciras Customs, made up of Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and Civil Guards from the Fiscal Analysis and Investigation Office (ODAIFI) of the Algeciras Command, has intercepted a container at the facilities of the port of Algeciras that was carrying three stolen vehicles inside.

The incident took place on July 27 when agents, analyzing the risk in the traffic of goods, detected a container from the United States, destined for an African country, whose content might not correspond to the declared merchandise.

Based on this suspicion, the container was opened and three high-end vehicles with high equipment were found inside
the value of which on the market exceeds 190,000 euros.

Following the appropriate checks, the agents confirmed that these were three vehicles stolen in the United States and bound for Togo.

The corresponding proceedings have been carried out regarding the events, which have been made available to the Judicial Authority, together with the vehicles and the seized items.
