Operation of the Tax Agency against drug trafficking

July 7, 2022.- The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency in Huelva has seized 592 kilos of hashish in the Huelva town of El Rincón in an action against international drug trafficking.

The operation began after Customs Surveillance Service investigators suspected that drugs were being stored on a farm in El Rincón. The operation began when, as a result of surveillance carried out on the property, it was detected that the organisation was transporting the drugs to another location using a van preceded by a shuttle vehicle.

The officers immediately tried to intercept the vehicles, which, ignoring the signals from the agents to stop, fled, endangering the safety of the other vehicles circulating at that time. After several kilometers of pursuit, the van transporting the merchandise was stopped. The driver and his passengers managed to escape.

Once the merchandise was counted, 592 kilos of hashish were recovered.

This intervention is the result of intelligence, investigation and control activities carried out by Customs Surveillance officials, who analyze the " modus operandi " of criminal organizations specialized in the introduction of large quantities of hashish by sea using fishing or recreational vessels.

The investigation is still ongoing and arrests are not ruled out in the coming days.
