Joint operation between the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard
- More than 15 kilos of cocaine have been seized
May 20, 2022.- Customs Surveillance Officers of the Tax Agency and Civil Guard agents belonging to the Fiscal and Border Protection Section of the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, while carrying out a fiscal verification point in the port area, proceeded to identify a person who arrived on the island, coming from the island of Gran Canaria with a truck-type vehicle, belonging to a construction and renovation company.
A canine officer from the Civil Guard also participated in the checkpoint, which detected the presence of narcotic substances in the vehicle. After failing to locate the drugs, the agents transfer the truck to the non-intrusive Inspection Centre, which is located in the same port area, where a scanner from the Tax Agency detects the presence of some packages in the truck, which are subjected to a reactive test, which comes back positive for cocaine.
The detainee, along with the proceedings carried out, has been brought before the Court of Instruction on Duty.
