Two people arrested in two operations against drug trafficking in Tenerife

Joint operations between the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard

  • The first person arrested is a person living in Las Palmas who traveled to Tenerife to pick up a package containing 25 kilos of hashish.

  • The second is a British tourist who brought in five kilos of marijuana by postal parcel during his stay

May 27, 2022.- Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard have carried out two operations in which two people have been arrested for an alleged crime of drug trafficking.

The first intervention took place on April 28 when, as a result of the fiscal inspection points carried out by the Customs Surveillance Operational Unit of the Tax Agency and the Fiscal and Border Protection Section of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife North Airport in the ADT premises, a package was identified that, according to what was declared, was transporting car parts, but actually contained 25 kilos of hashish inside.

As a result, investigators proceeded to set up a device to identify the owner of the package, who turned out to be a resident of Gran Canaria, from where he had flown that same morning to pick up the package. The suspect was intercepted and arrested as he was preparing to leave the island by boat.

The detainee was transferred to the Civil Guard facilities at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife dock, where proceedings were initiated, and on the morning of April 29 he was brought before the court on duty at the Court of Instruction.

Postal parcel with marijuana

The second intervention took place on May 13, when a British individual was identified and arrested while spending a long holiday, which began at the beginning of April, in the municipality of Adeje.

Investigators found that during this period, the suspect took advantage of the opportunity to introduce, by means of postal parcels from different countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States, different quantities of marijuana buds that reached a total gross weight of more than five kilos. This drug was sent to his holiday home for, supposedly, distribution.

The detainee was taken to the Civil Guard facilities in Playa de Las Américas, where proceedings were initiated, and on the morning of the 14th he was brought before the Arona Court of Instruction on duty.
