November 25, 2022.- Members of the Cádiz Customs risk analysis unit, made up of Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and the Fiscal Guard-Civil Guard, have prevented the introduction of a 2,104-kilo hashish shipment that was to be introduced into the Peninsula. The drugs were discovered in a container whose contents were declared to be scrap metal and which was destined for the province of Seville. The container was part of a shipment of five more that are awaiting inspection.
The operation took place on the morning of 17 November, when members of the ULAR proposed for inspection a container of scrap metal that had been declared for customs clearance.
Several indications led to the shipment being proposed for inspection at the Cadiz Customs Border Inspection Point (BIP). Upon opening the container, only the declared merchandise (scrap metal) was initially observed, but after a thorough examination, several burlap sacks containing 60 bales of hashish weighing approximately 30-40 kilos each were detected, resulting in a total amount seized of approximately 2,100 kilos.
One person has been arrested and further arrests are not ruled out. The investigations are still ongoing, and all the proceedings have been handed over to the Court on Duty in Cádiz.
