February 16, 2023.- Customs Surveillance officials of the Tax Agency, in a joint operation with the Civil Guard and the National Police within the framework of Operation 'Positivo-Canteira', have arrested four people for their alleged membership in a criminal organization dedicated to the trafficking and distribution of cocaine between Galicia and Portugal.
Investigation
The investigation began in January 2022, when it became known that there was a criminal organisation based in the province of Pontevedra that was engaged in the transport of said substance both in Pontevedra and in the provinces of La Coruña and Orense.
As a result of the investigations carried out, it was discovered that the organisation, in addition to organising perfectly coordinated transports to different locations in Galicia and Portugal, was also responsible for distributing illicit substances in various leisure venues in the Salnés area.
Once the criminal activity carried out by the members of the criminal organisation was confirmed, the agents requested a total of seven raids and searches from the Judicial Authority, in different locations in Vilagarcía de Arousa after arresting four of the members of the criminal group.
The units involved in the operation were Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency in Ourense, Udyco 1 of Pontevedra, Greco Galicia, and EDOA of the Civil Guard of Pontevedra and Ourense.
This operation dismantles the criminal network and deals a major blow to the distribution of narcotic substances.
