A marijuana plantation with more than 500 plants hidden in an industrial warehouse in an industrial estate in Alcantarilla has been dismantled

Joint operation of the Tax Agency and the National Police

  • The joint investigation led to the location of an industrial warehouse where a marijuana plantation was being developed.
  • Inside, more than 300 marijuana plants were seized, from which the buds had been cut, as well as more than 200 new cuttings in the growth phase.
  • The operation ended with the arrest of two men, residents of Espinardo and Molina de Segura, charging them with crimes against public health and electricity fraud.

May 5, 2023.- Customs Surveillance officials of the Tax Agency and agents of the National Police have proceeded to arrest two men of Spanish nationality, aged 37 and 40, as responsible for a marijuana plantation installed in an industrial warehouse in the Western Industrial Estate of Alcantarilla, who are charged with crimes against public health and electricity fraud.

Customs Surveillance and National Police investigators, in their usual investigations to locate points of production and distribution of narcotic substances, dealt a new blow against 'indoor' marijuana plantations, whose ultimate objective would be to distribute narcotic substances to small consumers.

Discreet surveillance of the area confirmed the existence of a marijuana plantation in an industrial warehouse in the Western Industrial Estate of Alcantarilla, and revealed the existence of a fraudulent electricity connection that those responsible for the marijuana plantation had made to avoid assuming the high costs of the electricity supply that these facilities require.

On March 30, Customs Surveillance investigators and the National Police established a joint operation to access the industrial warehouse under investigation, and once inside they were able to verify the existence of more than 500 marijuana plants: 300 of them recently decapitated and another 216 plants in the form of cuttings and in the growth phase.

In addition, in the indoor marijuana cultivation, ten air conditioning systems, 18 fans, 32 lights and their respective transformers, extractors, etc. were seized, in addition to the vehicles used by those responsible.

The presence and collaboration of workers from the energy supply company was necessary to eliminate the risk of fire and disconnect the electrical connections that had been made fraudulently and without the necessary safety measures.

The detainees were brought before the court for the adoption of the appropriate precautionary measures.
