April 1, 2024.- Customs Surveillance officers from the Tax Agency and agents from the Civil Guard, within the framework of the 'Chume' operation, have dismantled seven marijuana production centers in the Granada towns of Cijuela and Chimeneas. In this operation, a total of 2,180 'cannabis sativa' plants in different states of flowering have been seized.
In the context of this operation, seven people have been arrested for drug cultivation and production and for a minor offence of electricity fraud, while another 13 have been investigated for the minor offence of electricity fraud.
Investigators, with the help of technicians from the electricity supply company, discovered that there were at least 20 illegal double connections to the electricity grid in homes in the towns of Cijuela and Chimeneas.
After carrying out a series of measurements in these homes, a high electricity consumption was found in seven of them, leading to suspicions that the residents could be growing cannabis sativa intensively.
After obtaining judicial authorization to search the suspicious homes, Customs Surveillance and Civil Guard agents proceeded to search the seven homes and found all the infrastructure necessary for the cultivation and production of marijuana, as well as 2,180 cannabis sativa plants in different stages of growth.
