February 13, 2024.- Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and Udyco agents from the Provincial Police Station of Almería, in a joint operation, have seized two kilos of cocaine that were impregnated in two hammocks that had been sent to Vera (Almería) through a parcel company.
The operation began two months ago, when it was suspected that a parcel delivery company in the province of Almería was being used to introduce narcotic substances, specifically cocaine from South American countries.
After carrying out various checks, the presence of a shipment originating from Argentina, via Germany, bound for Vera was detected, which raised the suspicions of investigators. The contents of the package were two hammocks weighing about 20 kilos.
After carrying out various drug detection tests, investigators confirmed that cocaine was impregnated in the leather of the hammocks.
From this moment on, controlled delivery of the shipment was requested in order to identify the person responsible.
As a result of the controlled delivery, the person to whom the package was addressed was arrested on 25 January. He is a Spanish national and a resident of Vera and has been brought before the court.
Investigations are continuing in order to determine the identity of the rest of the people involved. The judicial authority in charge of the investigation is Court No. 3 of Vera (Almería).
