June 21, 2024.- The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard have dismantled a marijuana production center in the town of Otura (Granada). In this operation, the agents have seized 570 cannabis sativa plants in an advanced state of flowering. A woman has been investigated for the crimes of drug cultivation and production and for a crime of electricity fraud.
Investigators, with the help of technicians from the electricity supply company, discovered that there were at least three illegal double connections to the electricity grid in three homes in the town of Otura.
After carrying out a series of measurements in these homes, a high electricity consumption was observed in one of them, so it was suspected that the residents could be growing cannabis sativa intensively.
After obtaining authorization to search the suspicious home, the agents proceeded to search it and found inside all the infrastructure necessary for the cultivation and production of marijuana, as well as 570 cannabis sativa plants with flowering tops.
The agents discovered that the other two houses under investigation had illegal connections to the electricity grid and their owners have been investigated for a crime of electricity fraud. Meanwhile, Endesa workers took advantage of the police presence to safely dismantle these three illegal connections to the grid.
