One person arrested for trying to bring 2.8 kilos of marijuana buds into Cantabria

  • The drugs came in a package from Italy and were subject to a controlled delivery after being initially detected in Barcelona.

March 12, 2024.- Customs Surveillance officials of the Tax Agency in Cantabria have arrested a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug trafficking, and 2.8 kilos of marijuana buds and 500 grams of 'cannabis' pollen have been seized.

The operation began after a communication was received on March 4 at the Regional Customs Surveillance Operational Unit in Barcelona, in which the managers of the company that transported the package with the drugs reported the discovery in their facilities in Barcelona of a shipment that, when examined by X-ray, presented densities compatible with narcotic substances.

Customs Surveillance officers in Barcelona immediately went to the facilities and inspected the package, confirming that it contained the prohibited substances. The judicial authority was subsequently asked for authorization to carry out a controlled delivery of the package to its final recipient.

Once the authorization was received, the package was delivered by Customs Surveillance officials in Cantabria to its recipient, HMG, owner of a grow shop in the town of Renedo de Piélagos, who was immediately arrested and placed at the disposal of the Duty Court in Santander. His business premises were subsequently searched.

The drugs came from Italy, from where they had been sent by a parcel company. The owner of the premises also had an online sales channel through a website.
