October 30, 2024.- The Risk Analysis Unit (ULAR), made up of Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and agents from the Fiscal and Border Company of the Civil Guard in the port of Algeciras, has intercepted 37 stolen vehicles in the last three months.

The control, identification and inspection work on containers, destined for or in transit through Spain, carried out daily by ULAR at the container terminal in the port of Algeciras and the analysis work carried out by the agents allows the detection of containers from the United States and other European ports whose content does not correspond to the declared merchandise.

When they have suspicions about a particular cargo, officials open the containers to check the merchandise they are carrying inside.

The vehicles intercepted in the last quarter were often high-end vehicles, and were destined for different countries on the African continent such as Senegal, Gambia, Guinea or the Ivory Coast.

The market value of the intercepted vehicles, which have already been returned to their countries of origin to be delivered to their respective owners, exceeds three million euros.
