January 21, 2025.- The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard of Valencia have seized around 150 kilos of sauce from China that was in poor condition. According to the research carried out, its end-use was human consumption.

The incident occurred on November 25 when the Customs Surveillance Service and the Civil Guard carried out an inspection in the town of Manises. At the scene, a non-refrigerated container from China was being unloaded, inside which were three boxes of white cork. Once opened, it was discovered that they gave off a strong, foul odor.

After checking the contents, it was found that the strong smell came from bags of sauce that, according to the instructions on the bags, had to be kept at a temperature below -18 degrees Celsius.

Finally, approximately 150 kilos of sauce were seized, which were ultimately destined for human consumption. In connection with these events, a 38-year-old Chinese man is being investigated for smuggling.
