January 8, 2025.- On December 30, in the port of Barcelona, the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard seized 1,120 kilos of cocaine hidden inside a maritime container that had arrived in Barcelona from Mexico and whose end-use was Israel.
The operation took place at the APTM terminal in the port of Barcelona, during the routine inspection of this container. The drugs, which were transported using the method known as 'blind hook', were hidden in various packages placed inside the container in an easily accessible manner to ensure rapid extraction and camouflaged among sacks of chickpeas, which was the legal cargo transported.
There were 16 packages in total, each containing approximately 60 cocaine pills, with the total amount seized being 1,120 kilos.
'Blind hook' is a method used by drug trafficking networks to introduce narcotics in containers without the knowledge of the legitimate senders or recipients.
It consists of introducing the drug into the container that transports legal goods and recovering it before it is delivered to the legitimate client, as in this case, replacing the original seal on the container with a false one that goes unnoticed.
The case is being handled by the Barcelona Court of First Instance on Duty.
