  • The market value of the seized drugs exceeds one and a half million euros

February 27, 2025.- The Risk Analysis Unit (ULAR), made up of Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and Civil Guards from the Fiscal and Border Company of the port of Algeciras, has intercepted a container containing 50 kilos of cocaine at the facilities of the port of Algeciras.

As a result of the control, identification and inspection work on containers, destined for or in transit through Spain, carried out daily by the ULAR at the container terminal in the port of Algeciras and after a thorough analysis, the agents detected a container from the port of Guayaquil (Ecuador), which raised suspicions of being able to transport some type of illicit merchandise.

Given their suspicions, the agents proceeded to examine the structure of the vehicle, verifying, by removing the covers of the cooling system, that inside the cavity where the engines are housed, a large number of cocaine pills were hidden.

The extraction of the narcotic substances yielded a total of 50 pills, weighing 50 kilos, whose market value would amount to more than 1,500,000 euros.

The corresponding proceedings have been initiated regarding the facts, which have been made available to the Judicial Authority.
