March 18, 2025.- Officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and agents of the Civil Guard, carrying out fiscal and customs surveillance tasks, under customs jurisdiction, have arrested two passengers on a flight from Southeast Asia, via Madrid airport, after finding more than 45 kilos of marijuana in their luggage upon arrival at Valencia airport.
During passenger screening on flights with international connections, officials identified two foreign passengers who said they were coming from Southeast Asia, via Madrid Airport. Before passing through Customs, they displayed a nervous and evasive attitude and were carrying two large pieces of luggage. When asked about the contents of their luggage, they stated that they had nothing to declare.
Following standard customs procedures, their luggage was scanned, revealing a large quantity of containers containing organic matter in both suitcases, which could be consistent with the presence of narcotic substances.
Opened in their presence, the agents noticed that they contained a large quantity of black plastic packages (80) containing a vegetable substance. Once the narcotics test was applied, it gave a positive result for cannabis-marijuana. The total weight of the seized goods amounts to 45.46 kilos.
The two individuals, a Hungarian man and a Slovak woman, were arrested for an alleged crime against public health (drug trafficking). They were later imprisoned by court order.
The proceedings were handed over to the Court of First Instance and Investigation No. 3 of Quart de Poblet.
