Subsection 6.7: Storage of goods

This subsection covers exclusively the storage of goods integrated into the international supply chain.

6.7.1 - 6.7.5

Your procedures must provide for:

  • the determination of a storage area for the goods that is secure and well known to the control personnel,
  • the provision of a storage area that can only be accessed by authorized personnel,
  • regular stock monitoring,
  • control of incoming goods, transfers to other facilities and permanent or temporary withdrawals,
  • the determination of the measures to be taken in the event of irregularities, discrepancies, losses or thefts being detected,
  • the handling and treatment of the goods and their return to the warehouse,
  • where appropriate, the separation of different types of goods, for example, Union and non-Union goods, high-value or dangerous goods, air cargo or air mail,
  • Rapid maintenance and updating of stock records, including the location of goods,
  • the treatment of all aspects related to the physical security of storage facilities.

Security standards will depend on the type of goods, as well as the size and complexity of the business, which may consist of simply one location in an office block or, in the case of a large company, have several locations and operate in several Member States.

6.7.6

In case of subcontracting, indicate the company or companies in charge of storage.
