Although the end of the transitional period of the AES system for all Member States of the Union was set for 11 February 2025, due to delays in the implementation of this system by some countries, the Commission has proposed to postpone this end.

The Commission's proposal is to incorporate this extension of the deadline into Commission Implementing Regulation ( EU ) 2023/1070 of 1 June 2023 laying down the technical provisions for the development, maintenance and use of electronic systems for the exchange and storage of information in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 952/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which, according to the Commission, will not take place until January 2025.

It is therefore estimated that there will be a delay in the end of the transition period and the so-called "Big Bang", scheduled for 11 February 2025, until the end of 2025.
